Congratulations to our 5th and 6th grade Brain Bowl students who competed in "Are You Smarter than a Knight?" at Egg Harbor City Community School this past Saturday. Twenty teams from ten towns answered 6 rounds of trivia questions including questions about Pop Culture, Science and Math, History and Geography, Sports, Food, and New Jersey. In addition, our students competed in several carnival games like the long putt, plinko, hula hoops, ring toss, and more. Students had a great day showing off their knowledge and having fun!

To conclude Black History Month, Mrs. Coley’s 5th-grade class hosted a "Black History Wax Museum" on Friday, February 28. Throughout the month, students researched African American inventors and explored the lasting impact of their inventions on our world today. They shared their findings with families and fellow OCIS students during the event, which ended with a sing-along featuring Swahili words they learned in class. Mrs. Coley’s goal was to inspire her students to appreciate and recognize the contributions of African American inventors.
